Face Fit Testing and Training

We can help you meet legal requirements for respiratory protective equipment
What is Face Fit Testing?

Under the COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) Regulations, it is a requirement that workers using respiratory protective equipment (RPE), including face pieces and masks, must be fit tested by a competent person. These regulations were updated in April 2019 to include fit testing methods, techniques and protocols.

Maltby Professional Services has partnered with We Fit Rpe Ltd, who is the industry expert in face fit testing, training and RPE servicing. They have more than 20 years’ experience, were amongst the first to be Fit2Fit accredited as per the 2019 update, and are in the top percentage after achieving full accreditation in the three areas of qualitative, quantitative and N95.

There are two methods of Face Fit Testing, quantitative and qualitative, both approved by the HSE.

Required by law, Face Fit Testing must be carried out by an experienced Fit2Fit accredited fit tester or a competent person trained to the HSE standard. This is to ensure that the protective mask you wear is suitable for your face profile in order to maximise protection against harmful airborne substances. Recent research has shown that around 50% of RPE used does not offer the wearer the level of protection assumed. The major reason for this is that it simply does not fit.

“Training for first time RPE user is crucial to ensure the selected mask performs correctly and does not expose the user to any breathable hazards.”

What is Face Fit Training?

Training for first time RPE user is crucial to ensure the selected mask performs correctly and does not expose the user to any breathable hazards. This is a complete course with each candidate receiving a certificate. We Fit RPE also offers more advanced training aimed at supervisors and competent employees. Trained to record, check and maintain employees’ RPE   as required by the law. Qualitative fit testing training is also available for companies who wish to conduct Fit Testing in-house for their employees, where you will be trained to HSE fit tester level, complying with all HSE standards and regulations.
